Green STEM Careers

Online Green Careers Workshops

We work with industry professionals and can bring them live into your classroom. This is a chance to break down student’s misconceptions about STEM careers and the people who do them. We will explore what they do in their job, the skills they need to do their unique journeys from school to the industry.

Volunteer

Help Inspire the Next Generation of STEM Thinkers
Many students have never met anyone working in a STEM career and often have no idea how to pursue one themselves. You can help change that.

By spending just 30 minutes preparing and 30 minutes chatting live with students via a webinar, you could become a volunteer STEM ambassador.

You’ll share what your job involves, the everyday skills you use and what you enjoy about your work.

Your story could open student eyes to possibilities they didn’t know existed.

If you're interested in helping students see themselves in a STEM future, we’d love to hear from you.

Our Green STEM Careers Hub

We are building a resource for students to learn more about Green STEM careers and the people who work in them.

We aim to cover a wide range of jobs and skill sets and people from different stages and ages of their career.

We are looking for industry professionals to volunteer.

Working in the industry

Jennifer Gavalotti, Project Coordinator, Eden Renewables

Jennifer explains why she believes social media gives the company a voice and why that's important. Her advice would be to take environmental science classes to get a good knowledge base of the industry.

Travis Mitchell, Engineer and Partner with Environmental Design Partnership, LLP

Travis discusses his role in site and civil permitting work. He recommends exploring different areas of engineering, finding the area you are most interested in and asking companies for experience and internships to learn more.

Stephanie Tomlinson, Director of Operations at Eden Renewables

Stephanie's career went quickly from being a receptionist to a co-ordinator because she is so organised. She also explains the different paths in the energy industry and that there is something for everyone.

Hyde Clarke, Associate Attorney with the Environmental Law Firm, Young/Sommer LLC

Hyde helps projects get the right permissions and describes his favourite part of the work he does. Advice he would give is to look for internships, get experience at different institutions that you can then use after school. He took an environmental policy course which made him interested in renewable energy.
